Benzodiazepines are a class of medications frequently prescribed for the treatment of anxiety. Popular benzodiazepines include Tavor, Valium, Rivotril, and Ativan. Each of these drugs acts on the central nervous system to enhance the effects of a neurotransmitter identified as GABA. This leads in a calming effect, decreasing feelings of uneasiness.
